At the Birmingham show on the GAF tour, a short way through the gig, people
started crying out for older stuff to be played. [It'd all been post-Starfish
up to that point]

A rowdy hooligan (er, me actually) shouted 'get yer old stuff out!!' to which
SK replied 'you get your old stuff out !!' {that told me..}
and then after a few more chants for some old stuff,.... 'Look,' Mr Kilbey
says
' you dont expect people to keep wearing the same clothes that they did ten
years ago!!'

'YOU DO !!' cried the front row almost in unison...

'hmmm ok, you're right there!'

A few songs later SK sheepishly introduces 'Tantalized' as an 'old one'.

PART TWO

At the one-off London show earlier that year they came out playing Pharoah and
it was underwhelmingly quiet. Some rowdy hooligan (er, me again, sorry) and
others shouted 'turn it up!!'

SK mumbles something like ..'we're trying to, er, um, acheive some kind of
[tries to make arty statement]..(tails off, looks round at MWP and PK)
'Oh what the hell!! TURN IT UP!!'

Well, I laughed anyway.....

I loved the reviewer in a Melbourne mag reviewing the '88 gig when he finished
with the comment 'It was just TOO DAMN LOUD!!'
[The above are probably not strictly accurate quotes but the 'essence' is
there]
