When The Church emerged with the 1981 hit single The Unguarded Moment, they were instantly hailed as pioneers of the paisley underground. By the time the band had released its second album in 1982 - The Blurred Crusade - such neat categorizations were clearly redundant. The Blurred Crusade is a splendid song-cycle infused with poetic density, an invigorating sense of melody and the rich sound of shimmering guitars. The album presented some of songwriter/singer/bassist Steve Kilbey's most memorable tunes, none more so than the single, Almost With You.
