VOLUME 22 (2013)

Steve Kilbey - FIB Masters of Music Vol. 22 Cover

Artists covered in Vol. 22 include ABBA, Blondie, Bee Gees, Jim Morrison, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave and George Harrison.

Sales blurb, likely written by Steve Kilbey:

Intrigue and mystery swirling underfoot while the legends mingle tarry dally and make music with each other like demi-gods pulling such idiosyncratic stuff out of disparate musical universes. Some like Nick Cave reached in and pulled out a biblical pestilence. Others like Neil Young found sad lonesome worlds to drift through that had not yet been charted by any musician much before this. Thing is at the time these legends do their thing its quite revolutionary though it may seem part of the wallpaper now. The Legends are first and foremost Originals i.e. they are prime movers and they seem to arrive with a look, a philosophy, a sound, a unique voice strangely already intact. And sometimes their genius is even more amazing with all those Achilles heels amongst them. Just because you're a legend doesn't mean you don't sometimes get into some weird trouble and just because you're a legend doesn't make you automatically happy either.

VOLUME 23 (2013)

Steve Kilbey - FIB Masters of Music Vol. 23 Cover

Artists covered in Vol. 23 include George Harrison, Crowded House, Marc Bolan, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, Madonna and Lou Reed.

Sales blurb, likely written by Steve Kilbey:

They come, they spawn a thousand imitations and they become legends. Part of rock n roll's ongoing myth. Larger than life and sold twice as many records in half as much time than whoever else you can mention. It would truly be hard to imagine a world without Bob Dylan or James Brown or Abba. Their songs enter the mainstream and become the soundtrack to everyones lives. Their clothes spark fads that last forever. Their romantic antics have us searching through the flotsam of our times. Somewhere the songs become a fabric of our lives we quote them to each other. And we sing them in showers and bus stops and walking along when things aren't going too well...and garage bands in garageland are grinding them out beneath the blue suburban sky. Oh those hair cuts... oh those shoes... oh those double albums full of all the hits! Back in that golden age when all the legends still strode those trembling stages as they thundered out the true rock of ages! The originals and the untouchables... shall we see their like again...?
