from Vicious Sloth-
Ignored when first released, Narcosis' primary theme was sleep; and that's virtually what it did !
Critics were not kind, but "dreamy" though it may have been, the music was certainly interesting in the context of Steve Kilbey's earlier works. Add to this four unreleased tracks from the same sessions and you have a much greater insight into what was happening Kilbey's musical proression at the time.
So what we have are the original tracks foolowed by four previously un-released songs, The Egyptian, Midnite in America, Linda Wong and English Kiss. Why these weren't issued at the time is anyone's guess, but they sound as strong and vibrant as anything Kilbey has ever done.
Interestingly two of the tracks on Steve Cummings' recent Escapist CD were previously recorded in original form by Kilbey. Sleep with Me which was released on Narcosis and the Midnight in America recorded at the same sessions is now available for the first time on Narcosis Plus, as perfomed by Kilbey.
Fact of the matter is, Narcocis in its original CDEP format has become a hard item to track down these days, and it deserves to be re-examined in order to take its rightful place among Kilbey's solo legacy. For this reason it should certainly become a worthy addition to the collection of anyone interested in this area of Australian Music.
As an added bonus the first 1000 copies will contain a personally Autographed card from the man himself!

Buying Narcosis Plus
The guys at Vicious Sloth tell me that the autographed cards included with the CD you mailorder directly from them (Vicious Sloth, not the online stores) will be more "interesting" because Steve wrote more on those than on later cards. Apparently after the first six hundred or so he got a bit tired ! :-)Other Notes
