Pangaea
by The Church

REVIEWS and COMMENTS

This EP is such a treat. It kicks off with "Pangaea", the title track with a rolling rhythmic momentum and such great lyrics from the forever poetic Steve Kilbey. I would classify the next track, "LLC", as one of the band's more poppy songs of late. It begins with the unmistakable 12-string Rickenbacker melodic chimes of Marty Willson-Piper and is quickly followed by one of the most lush guitar washes ever which I think is courtesy of Peter Koppes. "Insanity" is the second great song featuring Marty's vocals on this short masterpiece. The EP closes with a 17-minute epic called "So Love May Find Us" that bears all the elements of song-writing that fans of The Church have come to appreciate. Listeners are immersed in an ethereal world of warm vocals from Steve Kilbey, chiming guitars, lush textures, floating bass and the subtle percussive genius of Tim Powles. All in all, this is a great addition to the extensive band catalogue for fans and an easy entry point for those that have yet to discover this artistic powerhouse of thought-provoking rock.
