Notes
Six album box set featuring the thematically linked trio of Kilbey Kennedy albums Jupiter 13 (2021), The Strange Life of Persephone Nimbus (2022) and Premonition K (2024) along with each album's bonus album of studio outtakes and early mixes.
From the booklet:
Strung out like a necklace of diamonds hanging in the firmament, the trilogy of albums from Steve Kilbey and Martin Kennedy ('Jupiter 13', 'The Strange Life of Persephone Nimbus' and 'Premonition K') glitter and shine like stars. They are connected by a golden thread: a retro space aged medieval flavored world of imagination and storytelling that stands majestic and enthralling. It is steam punk, mythology and classicism all bound together in one glorious package.
Easy Action has wrapped these three gems together in a CD collection that, like the duo themselves, is greater that the constituent parts. And these three albums deserve to be homed together for posterity, each building up on the other in a world created by the lyrical creativity of Kilbey and the musical genius of Kennedy, a collaboration that feels like the product of one singular organic mind.
Both musicians are disturbingly prolific and the sheer quantity of their output is matched by the quality. There can almost be no scientific explanation for how so much creativity and sonic innovation can pour out of the two like the waters from Icelandic waterfalls. Kilbey of course is steering the venerable institution The Church to its greatest heights with a series of phenomenal albums (most recently 'The Hypnogogue' and 'Eros Zeto and the Perfumed Guitars') while Kennedy has produced magnificent solo albums, material under the labels All India Radio and Observers and with other collaborators.
The result is perhaps close to a concept tryptych about mysterious events with a sci-fi tone and Kilbey's unique sense of storytelling — psychedelic musings that are spiritual, alien and euphoric.
...
Kennedy creates the incandescent canvas upon which Kilbey paints his words and melodies and the two work together and remotely to shape and form the magnificent end result. Kilbey/Kennedy don't as much produce albums as create atmospheric experiences — best ingested in one whole journey that leads you through brilliant sonic landscapes into mysterious and ethereal worlds. Poetic, immersive and haunting at times, the labyrinth of Kilbey's mind pours out through the lyrics and creates vast infinitesimal worlds that are born on Kennedy's endless array of luscious, layered sounds. This is another magnificent addition to their oeuvre.
